Distribution : Ensemble de l'Amazonie (Carvalho 1997,
GBIF). A.M. Carvalho (Brittonia, 49:
101. 1997) précise: "Scandent shrub or liana. This species is strongly associated with riverside vegetation of Amazonia, growing as a climber along the river banks or in periodically flooded "varzea" and "mata de igapo." The fruits of
D. foliosa, as of all species in sect.
Selenolobium, are adapted to dispersal by water, and the scandent or vine-like habit of those plants ensures that the fruits develop on branches that overhang water.
Dalbergia foliosa is particularly common in the lower Amazon basin but is also frequent along the rivers in the north, extending to the Guianas, Venezuela, and Colombia." Les données des forêts atlantiques sont erronées et issues d'une confusion
Dalbergia foliolosa Benth. 1860 vs.
D. foliosa (Benth.) A.M.Carvalho 1997.
