Autorité : Protologue: 'Missa sub nomine P. mollis Wulfen'; Anton Joseph Kerner (Monographia pulmonariarum 45. 1878) mentioned about the variant spellings of the name Wolff, e.g., Wollff, Wolf, Wulf., Wulfen, etc. Kerner added that Hornemann erred in ascribing the species name to Wulfen; Heller (Fl. Wirceb. Suppl., 13. 1815) referred to ‘cl(arissumo). D(ominus). Wolffio schwinrfurt’; TL-2 lists ‘Wolff, Johann Philipp (1743-1825), German (Bavarian) physician and botanist at Schweinfurt’
