Etymologie : "Rivularis (L), referring to rivulets, the nature habitat of the fungus."

Holotype : "FRANCE. Ariège: Moulis, le Lez, 400 m, on decaying submerged wood of Hedera helix, 30 Sep 2007, J. Fournier J.F. 07174 (HOLOTYPE, PRM 899852; living culture CBS 125238, ex-type). Ibid., Rimont, road D18, ca. 2 km to the south of the village, ruisseau du Baup, 500 m, on decaying submerged wood of Platanus sp., 26 Nov 2006, J. Fournier J.F. 06294 (PRM 899853; living culture CBS 125237)."
