Validité : In 1810, Murith used the name Aretia tomentosa Schl. in a list of plants of Valais (Switzerland). He provided a locality (Tsermatten) and a collector (Thomas), but no morphological description. In the other pages of his work where the name is used (pages 16, 29, 30), there is no descriptive statement either. Aretia tomentosa Schleicher ex Murith should be considered as a nomen nudum.
