Etymologie : "The species is named after the small urn (Latin: urceus) shaped fresh flowers, with a small apical opening"

Habitat : "The species is restricted to dense humid forest on non-ultramafic substrate."

Identification : "With its small leaves and its general architecture, Garcinia urceolata, sp. nov. could only be confused with G. virgata Vieill. ex Guillaumin."
