Distribution : Amazonie orientale: Pará (Brésil), Guyane française, Sipaliwini (Suriname); proobablement aussi Guyana (Hansen & Morales 2019; GBIF).
Ecologie : Forêt de terre ferme, floraison juillet-novembre.
Taxonomie : Forsteronia paraensis resembles F. laurifolia, which is found along the Rio Negro and other black-water rivers in Brazil and southern Venezuela. The fused nectaries, short, subcylindric inflorescences, and exserted style-head are characteristics shared by these two species. Forsteronia paraensis resembles F. laurifolia (Benth.) A.DC. but differs by its larger leaves (8–15 cm vs. 5–8 cm), leaf blades with conspicuously impressed secondary veins (vs. inconspicuously impressed), larger inflorescences (3–8 cm vs. 1–3.5 cm), and pubescent ovary (vs. glabrous).
