Etymologie : This species is named in honor of my wife, Christiane Eva Seidenschnur Anderson, astute student of Malpighiaceae and Compositae.
Statut biogéographique : Espèce récemment découverte en Guyane française: Interfluve Kourouaï-Kapiri, montagne couronnée 87, forêt secondaire, 09/03/2009, stérile. Arbre. J.-F. Molino & D. Sabatier 2664 (CAY109464, CAY111670, MICH [Byrsonima christianeae W.R.Anderson 1981, det. M.-F. Prévost, 2011, conf. G. Léotard 11/2019]).
Type : "Type. Tillett & Tillett 45583, mixed evergreen forest, E arm of Karowtipu, Kako River, upper Mazaruni River basin, British Guiana [Guyana], elev ca 950 m, 1 Oct 1960 flr (holotype MICH, isotypes K, NY, US).
Distribution. Guyana and Amapá; to be expected also from forests at moderate elevations in Surinam and French Guiana. Paratypes: Guyana. Mahdia R. Potaro R. 107 miles Bartica-Potaro Road, mixed forest on white sand, Jan frt, Forest Dept. 1004 (NY); Dicymbe forest, Potaro River Gorge, May frt, Maguire & Fanshawe 23535 (F, MO, NY, US); frequent, mixed-evergreen forest on and below talus from cliffs along NE side, Mt. Ayanganna, upper Mazaruni River basin, 750-900 m, Aug flr, Tillett et al 45881 (K, MICH, NY, US). Brazil. Amapá: Missão do Serviço Florestal no T. Amapá, Sep frt, Bastos 13 (IAN); heavily forested hills, Pörto Terezinha, Rio Amapari, Serra do Navio, 70-300 m, Nov flr, Cowan 38274 (MG, MICH, NY, US)." [protologue].
Guyana, Kako River (bassin de la haute Mazaruni), E arm of Karowtipu, mixed evergreen forest, c. 950 m, infrequent (?), 01/10/1960, fleur. Tree to 25 m, 5 dm base diam; lvs dark green above, lighter beneath, coriaceous, slightly brittle; glands pink inbud, turning to reddish-brown after flowering; calyx green turning pinkish, corolla white turning deep red, limb cupped light sweet fragrance.  S.S. Guyana, Mt. Ayanganna (bassin de la haute Mazaruni), mixed-evergreen forest on and below talus from cliffs along NE side, fréquent, 750-900 m, 17/08/1960, fleur. Tree to 15 m, 3 dm base diam; lvs medium green above, light green beneath, brittle; young flower buds white with brown calyx; glands pink when flower open, petals white; glands becoming white, corolla red in old fls; stigmas and stamens yellow; sweet fragrance.
