Twigs minutely pubescent; lvs. oblong or elliptical, the apex acute or acuminate or rounded, the base wedge-shaped, truncate or rounded, up to 23 cm. long and 8.5 cm. broad, the margin wavy, glabrous on both sides, petioles 2-6 cm. long, glabrous; fls. not seen; fruit in axillary racemes or clusters, few together, ellipsoidal, 1-2.8 cm. long, pubescent, thickly covered with bristles about 7 mm. long, which apparently drop, sometimes partially, sometimes completely so as to give the appearance of never having existed, valves splitting from base, 1-seeded; seeds about 8 mm. long; persistent sepals on fruit lanceolate, about 2 mm. long.
