Type : "Aublet's Lecythis amara may be considered the type of the genus, which he has figured in flower and in fruit²" [protologue, voir p. 165].​

Notes: R. Knuth (Pflanzenr., IV.219a(Heft 105): 79. 22/08/1939, fide TL-2, 1713, p. 793) a désigné de manière superflue Chytroma schomburgkii (O.Berg) Miers 1874 comme type. Miers avait typifié son nouveau genre dès sa publication, la typification de Knuth est donc illégitime.
