Distribution : "Wet forest at 0–1500 m, Guianas and southeastern Venezuela to southeastern Brazil." (Taylor et al., 2020).

Taxonomie : D'après Taylor et al. (2020): "Psychotria cupularis is quite similar morphologically to P. pedunculosa, which has a larger range and is more common. Their separation is sometimes subtle and difficult to outline in a key, but the species are distinct in life (C.M. Taylor, pers. obs.)."
