Hemsl. 1898 n'a sans doute pas correctement été ré-évaluée et mériterait d'être à nouveau étudiée! D'après Rome
et al. (
2024): "In the present treatment, we keep
P. amoena
L.K.Escobar [1994, montagne de Kaw],
P. fuchsiiflora
Hemsl. [1898, Demerara river] and
P. saulensis
[Feuillet 2002, Galbao] as distinct species, but it will be interesting
to study the variability of morphological characters and the genetic
links between these species as explained below in our comments. [...] This species is distinguished from others of this section by its longer filaments."
Type : "British Guiana: Demerara river, Jenman, 6540." [protologue].
Guyana, Demerara river, 07/1896, fleurs et fruits. The flowers are borne on the old wood, stems often 2 inch thick, in
spreading clusters from ten to twenty or thirty. The clusters are
abundant, the colour orange - scarlet, and the effect as they are seen
through the forest very fine. See pods, full size but not quite ripe in spirit in separate bottle. G.S. Jenman 6540 (LT:
