Distribution : Endémique des Gorges de la Potaro river (Guyana).

Statut biogéographique : En Guyane française, signalé par erreur sur la base d'une seule collecte d'Hirtella tenuifolia Prance 1972: bord de la piste de saut Maripa, forêt primaire, 02/10/1982, stérile. Petit arbre. Feuilles alternes oblongues. Inflorescences pendantes. Fruits chagrinés noirs à mâturité. P. Grenand 2138 (CAY049391, CAY049392 [H. tenuifolia, det. G.Léotard 20/03/2019; H. angustissima Sandwith, det. G.T. Prance 1985, 1988; H. tenuifolia, det. 1982]).

Taxonomie : Forme rhéophyte marquée du complexe de Hirtella racemosa Lam.

Type : "BRITISH GUIANA. Potaro River: Amatuk Falls, on rocky ground, Aug. 31st 1937, Sandwith 1246 (typus), ibid., Aug. 1933, Tutin 601; below Kaieteur Falls, on rocks and banks in the riverway, Sept.-Oct. 1881, Jenman 884, 970. A small tree, 15-20 ft. high, very graceful. Racemes pendent. Petals and filaments Veronica or Echium blue. This very beautiful species occurs abundantly along the banks of the Potaro from Tukeit down to Kangaruma, and is so striking and so uniform that it  has seemed undesirable to treat it  as a mere extreme variety of the polymorphic H. racemosa."
