Identification : Espèce identifiée récemment en Guyane, les spécimens avaient été précédemment identifiés comme Aristolochia consimilis Mast. 1906 et A. rugosa Lam. 1783 (deux taxons pourtant non apparentés, ni entre eux, ni avec A. disticha!).

Type : "Praeter species supra descriptas in herbario Kewensi asservatur specimen mancum, a cl. Spruce ad Santarem secus fluvium Amazonum lectum (* 963) et ad speciem hactenus indescriptam sine dubio referendum, cui ad interim nomen Aristolochià disticha adscribimus." [protologue].
