Distribution : The present distributions of G. affinis and G. holbrooki are complex and difficult to separate with certainty. Taxonomic ambiguity makes species identification uncertain in many locations.

Identification : Gambusia affinis and Gambusia holbrooki are very closely related, similar in appearance, similar in biology and often confused.
