Type : Suriname, s. loc., C.G. Dahlberg s.n. [espèce n°12 du catalogue de Dahlberg] (LINN-HL1051.21 ["Lobelia laevigata 12" (scripsit Linné)], S05-1889 ["surinamensis, laevigatus" (scripsit A. Dahl), ex hb. Alstroemerii]).

Validité : D'après Moraes (Phytotaxa 41: 52. 2012) l'épithète "obscura" est employée pour désigner un spécimen incomplètement identifié/connu [et non comme une véritable épithète!], et est donc invalide: "Apparently, Linnaeus (1775) did not mean to name the species as ‘obscura’, but to indicate the species as of uncertain status. Lobelia obscura L. was treated by Harvey (1992: 4) as nomen nudum, although Linnaeus’ statement on ‘Herba 4-pedalis, lactescens. Flos ruber’ in the protologue. The specimen at LINN was annotated by Linnaeus as ‘Lobelia laevigata 12’. The specimen S-LINN 05-1889, ex Herb. Alstroemerii, was annotated by A. Dahl with ‘surinamensis’ and ‘laevigata’, on the front of the sheet, and with ‘Dahl a Linne P.’, ‘Surinam Dahlberg’, on the reverse of the sheet."
Ce taxon sera décrit validement comme: Lobelia laevigata L.f. 1781.
