Type : "Habitat in Surinamo. C. G. Dalberg." [protologue].
46. ‘Cassia 39. bicapsularis’, Pl. Surin.: 8. 1775; Amoen. Acad. 8: 255. 1785. [= Cassia bicapsularis Linnaeus
(1753: 376)].
Synonym: Cassia bacillaris Linnaeus filius (1782: 231); Willdenow (1799: 514).
Suriname, s. l., Anonyme [C.G. Dahlberg] 39 (LT: LINN 528.2 [désigné comme "type" par
Brenan 70. 1967]; ILT: LINN 528.3?).
Suriname, s. l., C.G.
Dahlberg s.n. (ST: LINN-SM 736.6, S-LINN 09-32364 [IDC 164.5], S-LINN 09-32245 [IDC 166.9]).
The specimen at LINN 528.2 was annotated by Linnaeus as ‘Surin 39’, and later as ‘bacillaris’ by
Linnaeus filius.
Linnaeus (1775) quoted ‘Mer. Surin. l. 32’ — Merian’s plate 32, which was identified by
Stearn (1982) as Cassia occidentalis Linnaeus (1753: 377).
The specimen at LINN-SM was annotated by J.E.
Smith as ‘HLfil. Surinam. Dahlberg’.
The specimen at S-LINN 09-32364 was annotated by A. Dahl as ‘Cassia
bicapsularis’, ‘Dahl a Linne P’, ‘Dahlberg Surinam’, whereas specimen S-LINN 09-32245 was annotated as
‘Cassia baccillaris’, ‘Dahl a Linne P’, ‘Surinam Dahlberg’. Schreber (in Linnaeus 1785) quoted that Cassia
bicapsularis L. is the same as Cassia bacillaris L.f. Irwin & Barneby (1982) indicated the type of Senna
bacillaris var. bacillaris as ‘Holotypus, LINN 528.2 & 3!’. However, the specimen LINN 528.3 has no
annotation, although it would be likely the same gathering by Dahlberg at LINN 528.2.
