Distribution : D'après Guimarães et al. (Taxon, 68(5): 937-1002. 30/12/2019): "Heterocentron has 43 taxa (29 species, 14 varieties), confined to Mexico and Central America, with the highest diversity in Mexico (33 taxa). In Central America, most of the 34 species are distributed in the northwest. They are found mostly in cloud forests, rain forests, and pine-oak forests, growing along forest margins and clearings, cliff faces, lake margins, rocky canyon walls, roadsides and disturbed sites from 750 to 2400 m (Almeda, 2009)."
