Taxonomie : R. Fricke (com. pers. 14/06/2021): "The two species of Hippocampus are controversial. While Lourie et al. (2016) follow a lumping approach and treat the two species as Hippocampus histrix and H. kuda, we follow the classification of Rudie Kuiter as implemented in Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes, and name the two species Hippocampus borboniensis and H. jayakari. ECoF entries see below. In ECoF, H. histrix and H. kuda are restricted to the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific. Lourie has monopolised the IUCN classification, against the ECoF classification."
