Statut biogéographique : Indigeneous to eastern Australia. The first European introduction of C. destrucor was carried out in 1983. The specimens came from a crayfish farm in California and were put into a pond in Girona, Catalonia. In 1984 and 1985, another introduction was carried out, this time into the Province of Zaragoza and the population became established.
