Autorité : On sait aujourd'hui que la partie taxonomique de "On the cultivation of the plants belonging to the natural order of Proteeae" a été écrite pour sa plus grande partie par R.A. Salisbury à partir de travaux "piratés" de Robert Brown (à ce sujet voir notamment TL-2, 3759 & R.A. Salisbury, sur wikipedia J. Knight et R.A. Salisbury, et Britten 1886). Néanmoins J. Knight en est le seul auteur déclaré et les noms nouveaux doivent nécessairement lui être attribué (voir les commentaires à ce sujet dans TL-2, 3759). Ce dernier attribue le nom "Grevillia" [mais pas sa description!] à R. Brown.

Etymologie : D'après R. Brown (Trans. Linn. Soc. London, 10(1): 168. 1810): "I have dedicated to the right honourable Charles Francis Greville, one of the Vice-Presidents of the Royal Society; a gentleman eminently distinguished for his acquirements in natural history, and to whom the botanists of this country are indebted for the introduction and successful cultivation of many rare and interesting plants."
