Statut biogéographique : Taxon découvert récemment en Guyane française à Maripasoula: zone dégradée en bord de piste, 03°42.4465'N 54°03.899'W, 118 m, 03/09/2019, fleurs et fruits. Grande herbe atteignant 2 m de haut. S. Sant (photos, Aeschynomene densiflora Kunth 1824 det. G. Léotard, 07/09/2019).

Taxonomie : D'après Rudd (Contr. U.S. Natl. Herb., 32(1): 85. 1955): "This taxon was first given specific status by Bentham and then reduced by him, in "Flora Brasiliensis" (15(1): 69. 1859), to synonymy under Ae. hislrix. However, since it is readily distinguished from typical Ae. histrix by its more robust habit and larger leaves and stipules, it is believed that it should have varietal recognition. But, since its flowers and fruits are essentially the same as those of Ae. histrix var. histrix and there appears to be some intergradation with the other varieties, specific rank is not warranted." D'après nous, la situation dans les Guyanes indique que A. densiflora et A. histrix sont morphologiquement bien trop distincts pour être traités comme conspécifiques (G. Léotard 07/09/2019). Malheureusement la combinaison de A. densiflora au rang spécifique dans le genre Ctenodon Baill. 1870 n'a, à ce jour, pas été publiée (G. Léotard 13/11/2022).
