Type : Pithecellobium auaremotemo Mart. 1837 [≡
Mimosa vaga Vell. 1831, nom. illeg. hom., non L. 1753; =
Mimosa cochliocarpos Gomes 1803,
Abarema cochliocarpos (Gomes) Barneby & J.W.Grimes 1996][désigné par N.L. Britton & E.P. Killip, Ann. New York Acad. Sci., 35(3):
126. 01/04/1936 fide
p. 101] (E Brésil).
La typification de
Pithecellobium sect.
Abaremotemon Benth.
Abarema Pittier 1927. D'après R.S. Cowan (Taxon, 8(2):
58. 02-03/1959) cette typification n'est pas effective: "
Abarema Pittier
, Arb. y Arbust. Orden Legum. 56. 1927. LT.:
A. trapezifolium (Benth.) Pittier. When Pittier described this genus he included in it two of Bentham's species of
Pithecellobium. Of these two the one selected here is better known and more typical of the genus morphologically. The lectotype cannot be
Pithecellobium Avaremotemo Martius, which was chosen by Britton and Killip (Ann. N. Y. Acad. Sc. 35:
126. Apr. 1936), for the lectotype must be selected from among the original species."
P. sect.
Abaremotemon (voir London J. Bot., 3(4): [
203-]
204[-
Barneby & Grimes (1996) concluent sans équivoque "The subsequently proposed lectotypus (Cowan, Taxon 8:
58. 1959) is rejected. Cowan believed the type of
Abarema should be among the species listed by Pittier and chose
A. trapezifolia as the better known. The genus was based, however, on sect.
Abaremotemon Bentham, of which
P. auaremotemo is the unavoidable lectotypus."
