From Faramea corymbosa this species differs in the showy bracts, short pedicels, longer corolla, an toothed calyx, while from F. anisocalyx it is distinguished by the small bracts, many more peduncles per inflorescence, shorter corolla, and shorter calyx. So far as present records indicate, it is cconfined to the southwestern Amazonas section of Venezuela.

Distribution : Guyane vénézuélienne: "in seasonal vegetation at 80-200 m in the Orinoco and Negro river basins in southern Venezuela, and perhaps can be expected in adjacent eastern Colombia and northern Brazil" (Taylor & Jardim 2021; GBIF).
