Etymologie : "The epithet refers to the strong contrast between the orange pseudostromata and the grey thallus."

Holotype : "New Caledonia, Province Sud, Dumbéa, Monts Dzumac, along roadside up to the mountain top, 22°02'S, 166°28'E, 920 m, relict montane forest, on bark, September 2012, K. B. Naksuwankul & H. T. Lumbsch 7537 (IRD—holotype; B, F—isotypes)."
