  • The invasive species Thaumastocoris peregrinus Carpintero & Dellape, 2006, continues its spread throughout the world. It is reported here for the first time on the French island of Reunion, where it was found in 2013 and 2014 in several localities. Five specimens from Reunion Island were sequenced and compared to Thaumastocoris sequences available in international databases. The sequences have been deposited in GenBank. Usually this species is a significant pest of Eucalyptus, but as Eucalyptus is not a major crop in Reunion Island, the financial impact should not be important. However, it might have a negative impact on ornamental gardens in altering the aesthetics of the trees and in bothering people.
