Taxonomie : Blanco (2008) explique: "Dunsterville and Garay (1959) misapplied the name Maxillaria jenischiana (Rchb.f.) C.Schweinf. to Camaridium carinatum. Maxillaria jenischiana is a nomenclatural synonym of Ornithidium jenischianum Rchb.f., a very different species with red flowers endemic to Venezuela. Foldats (1970: 464) noticed this erroneous determination, but Pabst (1972), Pabst and Dungs (1977), and Dunsterville and Garay (1979) continued using the misapplied name, probably because Foldats’s correction was overlooked since it was published in Spanish. This led other authors to propagate this error (see "Maxillaria jenischinana auct. non (Rchb.f.) C.Schweinf." at the end of the synonymy). Romero and Carnevali (2000) made the correction in the second edition of Orchids of Venezuela — An Illustrated Field Guide." D'après Blanco (2008) les données de "Maxillaria jenischiana" du plateau des Guyanes (Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname) sont donc à rapporter à Camaridium carinatum (Barb.Rodr.) Hoehne 1947. Les données du Suriname (forêts d'altitude du Brownsberg & et des monts Lely; voir Werkhoven 1986, Molgo & De Dijn 2009, Molgo & De Dijn 2013) nécessiteraient pourtant d'être dûment vérifiées, car la probabilité qu'elle se rapporte à une espèce présente en Guyane (et donc probablement à un véritable Ornithidium!) parait élevée (G. Léotard, obs. pers., 29/12/2020).
