Taxonomie : Dans Flora of Venezuelan Guayana, C. M. Taylor (Berry et al. 2004) commente: "Guettarda argentea Lam., based on a specimen from “Ile de Cayenne,” French Guiana, may be an older name for this species [G. macrantha Benth. 1841], but adequate material to confirm this has not been seen." Par ailleurs en 2004, P.G. Delprete identifie un des isotypes (U0119310) de G. macrantha comme G. argentea. Finalement, Flora do Brasil 2020 traite Guettarda macrantha Benth. 1841 comme un synonyme de G. argentea Lam. 1789.
